RLS – The modular ramp system
Differences in elevation, which have previously been addressed with steps, pose an obstacle for people with limited mobility. This applies to residential areas as well as public spaces where construction work has already been completed or is no longer possible.
Modular design
The stationary ramp system of type RLS is used at this point and provides barrier-free access to buildings. It is available in standard interior widths of 800, 1000, and
Available in 1200 mm lengths. The various elements (corner platform, reversible platform, resting platform, straight walkway) each support 400 kg, fit together modularly, and offer an almost endless variety of configurations.
different ramp system solutions.
Safety
The anodized handrail complies with DIN 18040 and is also suitable for public buildings. The stamped aluminum tread is durable and offers a high slip resistance of R12.
The adjustable support legs allow for the recommended 6% gradient for self-propelled vehicles, but steeper gradients are also possible. The innovative modular system, with its modern look, is a perfect fit.
It is ideal for existing buildings, requires no maintenance and is also suitable for pedestrians.
Calculating the ramp length
The required ramp length can be easily calculated using two values: the height difference to be bridged and the possible gradient.
The following gradients serve as a guideline:
• for public buildings max. 6%
• Self-drivers with physical disabilities: max. 6%
• Self-propelled vehicles up to 10%
• People being pushed up to 20%
• Electric wheelchairs up to 20%
Formula for calculating length:
Length = Height difference x 100 / Gradient %
With a height of 45 cm and a gradient of 6%, the length is 750 cm. (45 x 100 / 6 = 750)
Please note that according to DIN 18040, a 1,5 m long resting platform is required for public buildings with ramps longer than 6 meters. This resting platform has no incline and therefore does not contribute to bridging the height difference.
